Make the Tasks Around Your Home Easier With Power Tools Like Spray Paint Applicators

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

With the economy in a dismal state for now, many people are looking at DIY projects to keep up or fix up their homes. If you aren’t sure how to work with power tools, there’s no time like right now to learn! Working on home renovation or home remodeling projects can really test your skills and endurance, but can also be a pleasant experience if you come in prepared and know where to turn for advice should you need it.

The right power tools can benefit almost every homeowner. As a general rule, power tools are devices that are powered by an electric motor, a compressed air motor, or a gasoline engine. Some power tools can be large and stationary, like a router, or they can be small, like a powered screwdriver. Either way you get them, power tools make any project easier and they help you complete tasks in less time. Even a task as simple as hanging window valances in the bedroom can be more easily tackled with the help of a power drill or an electric screwdriver. Tasks like hanging shelving units can take much longer if you have to screw them in by handImagine the time it takes to screw in all the necessary bracings for shelving units by hand. We all shoud be glad that a huge diversity of power tools is available.

As an example, think about installing window valances. Because the curtain rod should be hung on a home’s strong studs, the job of hanging the window valances rod is helped along through the use of an electronic stud finder and an electric drill. This is an example of how power tools assist with any household job. Once the electric stud finder has found studs through the finished wall, locations where screws will be drilled into the wall can be found. Then it is time to bring out the electric drill. While many people favor the freedom of a cordless drill, a regular electric drill can be purchased for much less money and works well for jobs like hanging window valances. One job, two helpful power tools to make it go quicker and easier.

Believe it or not, painting tasks in and out of the house can be DIY tasks that can be helped with power tools such as a paint spraying systems, because not all tasks require the same type of tools. Some tasks require using paint rollers or paint brushes, while others can be best done by using paint spraying systems. The benefit to using a paint sprayer is that it can spread paint or stain in less time than a paint brush or roller can. By using paint spray systems, one can accomplish a job in far less time than by using any other painting equipment. All painting jobs may not benefit from paint spraying systems; small jobs frequently need a brush because they provide more precise control. Always remember to keep paint remover around when painting to be able to remove spills and splashes quickly.

You can find tool kits online or at your local home improvement store that have the basic power tools. Compact electric toolkits contain the most important tools such as a cordless drill, a grinder and a jigsaw. With these essential portable power tools, you can accomplish almost any small project in your home in no time.

Amazing Roman Shades For Your Home?

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Imagine having superb designer roman shades on your windows in as little time as it takes to install some curtain hardware!

Making a no stitch roman shade is insanely easy! First, get a lined drapery panel in a fabric you like. You can find pre-made drapery panels in any decorating store. Pottery Barn, Bed Bath & Beyond… Tons of net shops have them. So lets take a look at the latest in window covering trends. When attempting to find your drapery panel, keep the following in mind :

The panel should be at LEAST as wide as your window. It can be wider.

It should be a rod pocket style curtain.

It should be lined

You must love the fabric! Don’t settle… There’s plenty of shops out there that sell all kinds of curtain panels… So look around and find what you like.

This is your opportunity to save serious money. Many times you will find these on sale. I found mine at a clearance sale for fifty percent off!

Next, purchase 2″ to 3″ wide ribbon that enhances the fabric on your curtain. You might pick a solid velvet that picks up a color… A pattern that matches your room… Whatever works with your style and decor.

Third, install an ornamental drapery pole or stand curtain rod over your window.

Next, Slide the curtain onto the rod and uniformly adjust the gathers.

Finanlly, add the ribbon

Cut 2 strips of ribbon that are twice the length of your window.

Slide each ribbon over the top of your curtain.

Gather up the bottom edge of your curtain and tie the ribbons around the bottom edge.

Voila! You currently have a relaxed roman shade on your window without any sewing! This style is designed for minimal to no operation. If you plan on raising and lowering your roman shade regularly then you may want to consider a “sew” roman shade instead.

Happy “no sewing”
